MANES
ANGIOLINA (nee D'Abarno) peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 19, 2021. She was 96 years-old. Predeceased by her husband Pierino and an infant son; survived by her sister Nicolina Evarini; her children Nicola (Gerri), Lucia, Tina Talago (Andrew), and Ben (Hope); grandchildren Gem Bennett, Nick, Stephen Talago, Fernando Talago and Aria; great grandchildren Robert, Alyssa, Nico, Ciara, Nathan, Kiersten, Aiden, Madison and Finley; great great grandchildren Liam, Emma and Noah.
Born in Montecilfone, Italy to Faustina Marinelli and Beniamino D'Abarno, Angiolina had three sisters – Aurora, Teresa and Nicolina; she was an avid reader with a wide range of interests including ancient history, current events as well as fashion design. She could recite poetry from her early school days with unmatched accuracy. But singing was her trademark!! With great humor, energy and spirit, Angiolina loved to dance and could belt out any tune without skipping a note.
In 1958, joining her husband in Philadelphia, Angiolina emigrated to the United States with her three young children. In 1962 a fourth child was born. Together they raised their children, working tirelessly to build a home in the new land. Spanning two cultures and having family both in the United States and Italy, Angiolina would continue the family traditions of her Italian roots. This included making her famous pizza, pasta, canning the "perfect" tomatoes in August, sausage in January and getting the cheese at the "right store" and the bread at the "right bakery". Angiolina's palate and cooking could win her a top Italian culinary prize. To have shared a Sunday or holiday dinner with her would sustain you for life.
Angiolina will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her and loved her including many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and family in Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, Venezuela and England. Her international phone line never stopped ringing.
Ave atque vale (hail and farewell). Ci vediamo (we'll see you again)! May she rest in peace!
