Anita Kelly (nee Shaffer), age 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in North Cape May, New Jersey in the presence of her family. Anita was a longtime resident of the Holmesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia. Here, she and her husband of nearly 50 years Edward (decd. 2001), raised daughters Patricia Murao (Thomas) and Theresa Troy (Edward) with love and joy. Anita, spent decades as an office employee of E.K. Lay in the neighborhood of Port Richmond, working well past the traditional age of retirement. This vigor for work was only matched by the energy she brought to favorite pastimes including, Sunday breakfast with her husband at the Dining Car, summers playing SKILO in North Wildwood, New Jersey, and hosting a Thanksgiving dinner known for its delicious pumpkin pie. However, perhaps nothing gave Anita more joy than the relationship she shared as a loving grandmother (gram) with her three grandsons, Robert Mallard, Christopher Mallard (Leah), Matthew Mallard, and great-granddaughter, Elena Mallard, who will remember her for her cheerfulness, generosity, and love of game shows. Among those already listed, Anita is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
