IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernard "Ben"
Slowinski
September 19, 1932 – January 14, 2025
Bernard "Ben" Slowinski passed away on January 14, 2025 after a brief illness. He was 92 years old. Ben was born in Hazleton, PA in 1932. He was the oldest child of Catherine and Walter Slowinski, brother to Walter (Clare), Loretta (Bud) and his late brother Ray (Carol). He was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School. He served Honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War. In 1956, he married the former Joan Schoppe, the love of his life. Ben and Joan recently celebrated their 68th anniversary and, as usual, Ben spent the day patiently listening to his "Joanie Baloney" talk and talk and talk. He worked at Western Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1989. He coached his children in sports and was President of Lansing Knights Youth Organization for several years. In 1985, he and Joan purchased their dream home in North Wildwood, NJ, where they lived until his passing. His NW home was a gathering place for family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors, who would visit on a daily basis. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he would take to the beach, to the boardwalk, for long walks around town, and treating them to ice cream. If you met him once, you would have a friend for life. He was a good man, with a kind soul, and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Ben is survived by his wife, Joan, daughters Joann Claypool (George) and Karen Forbes (Bill), son John (Janine), and 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
