On Wednesday, September 25th 2019, Caterina Fiocca (nee DeNicola), loving wife to Enrico, devoted mother to Anna (Peter) Gatta and Linda (Michael) Pogorzelski passed away at the age of 90. Caterina was a proud Meme (Mimi) to Joe (Giulia), Mark (Maria), and Jenna (Mike) Prusienski. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren Isabella, Pietro, Caterina, Fiorella, Donato, and Mason. Caterina was also sister to Cosmo and Dolorosa Pallante (deceased).

Caterina was born on May 14, 1929 in Longano, Italy to Antonio and Rosa DeNicola (nee Scioli). Caterina boldly forged her way into the United States in 1951, leaving behind her husband and infant daughter in Italy. Her journey to America was to start a new life for her family in Philadelphia. In 1952, her family gained citizenship and joined her. Caterina worked in a textile factory in Philadelphia for many years, while still being a strong and nurturing mother. Caterina was a dedicated Catholic, with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother whom she prayed to each night. She took great pride in her home, always ensuring it was neat and clean. She also was an avid watcher of General Hospital and rarely missed an episode. She also enjoyed her coffee and dessert.

Most of all Caterina enjoyed spending time with her family, and especially loved seeing the smiles on the faces of her great-grandchildren.

A Mass and viewing in memory of Caterina will be held on Monday 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, at Saint Katherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Dominic's Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Caterina may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
