Catherine Young (née Tunney), age 66, was born in Philadelphia to the late Robert P. and Dorothy (Crowe) Tunney.  Catherine was a proud Class of 1976 graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic High School for Girls. She was a retired Philadelphia Police Sergeant who served the city for over 27 years.

Beloved wife of 46 years of Richard Young. Dear mother of Nicholas Strand (Katie), Dorothy (Robert Hoppe), Richard (Vinita), Mary (Stephen Hill), and Julia. Loving grandmother of Matthew, Gianna, Richie, Magdalene, Ginny, Bobby, Evangeline, Felicity and Elizabeth. Baby sister of Robert Tunney, the late Dorothy Amato, Patricia Andrews, the late William Tunney, the late Joseph Tunney, Michael Tunney and Mary Tunney. Catherine also leaves behind a bountiful number of cousins, friends, coworkers and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Tuesday evening, July 8, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025, 9:00-10:00 A.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114.  Funeral Mass Wednesday morning, 11:00 A.M. at St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.  Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
