Charles S. Godin 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on November 3 after a brief illness.
Beloved husband of 54 years to the late Dorothy. Cherished father of Andrea and Tom Evans, Cynthia and Joe Gallo, and Gwen and Jim Hanuscin. Devoted grandfather of Ashley (Evans), Mike, Beckett and Harper DiPrisco, Alicia Evans, Victoria and Alexandra Gallo, and Hayley and Colin Hanuscin. Survived by sisters in law, Mary Kuntz, Barbara Andrasko and Ileane Godin, and brother in law Francis Andrasko. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, Normandy neighbors, and friends at Wood River Village, where he most recently lived.
Charles was born and lived most of his life in Philadelphia. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in Zama, Japan. Returning to Philadelphia he was employed as a Philadelphia Police Officer for 27 years retiring as a police detective in 1975. He then became employed by the School District of Philadelphia for 18 years as a security officer, spending most of those years at George Washington High School. Charles was a founding member of Saint Martha's Parish and was instrumental in the formation of the Men's Club; and implemented Tuesday night Bingo, which he managed for many years. Recently Charles was a Guardian of the National Cemetery at Washington Crossing in Newtown PA, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Church, 11301 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, November 18 between 9AM and 10AM followed by his service at 10AM. Interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
