Dennis W. Hill 75 passed peacefully at home December 31, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (nee Young) and is survived by his son Dennis E. Hill (Kelly) his grandson Connor and his great nephews the Rueda boys.

In Fishtown he attended Holy Name Elementary School and gained valuable basketball skills at local gyms and playgrounds.  He played varsity basketball at North Catholic (class of '67) and earned a four year basketball scholarship to Ohio Dominican.

He loved summers at his grandparents' home in North Wildwood and was a lifeguard on the NW Beach Patrol.  More recently he enjoyed working at the entrance to the Seaport Pier.

Dennis served Philadelphia first as a police officer and then as a supervisor in Public Safety at the University of Pennsylvania.   He was a Mummer and a member of the AOH.  He coached youth basketball teams, was Executive Director of the Markward Basketball Club, and Selection Chair for the Philadelphia All Star Labor Classic.  His latest endeavor was in movie production for Philly Born Films.  He truly treasured the many friends he made throughout the years and helping others wherever he was able.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather Thursday, January 16, 2025, 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Markward Basketball Club, 5020 N. Convent Lane, Apt. C, Philadelphia, PA 19114 in Dennis's memory would be appreciated
