Dolores C. Schaeflein passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 84.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Schaeflein, to whom she was married for over 50 years; devoted mother of Eric Schaeflein and his wife, Damaris; and Christopher Schaeflein and his wife, Bogi; and cherished Mom-Mom of Maya.
Dolores graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School.
She was a long-time employee of the Bensalem School District serving as a classroom aid and as an administrative assistant at the S.K. Faust Elementary School.
She was an avid reader with a fondness for mysteries, imaginative fiction, and non-fiction topics such as the archeology of ancient Egypt and Native American culture.
Additionally, Dolores enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and dabbled in the visual arts, using watercolors, charcoal, oils, and pastels to capture still-life images and portraits of family members.
She was a collector of material culture whose interests ran the gamut from delicate, handmade Native American arts and crafts to innumerable nick-nacks, animal figurines, and travel souvenirs.
Dolores loved to cook, consulting a variety of cookbooks to serve in the creation of Mexican, Chinese, French, and American cuisine, among other fare.
She often made donations to various causes including the Special Olympics, the S.P.C.A., police and firefighter charities, and the Northern Plains Reservation Aid.
Dolores was the occasional pen pal to shut-ins and the Native American children with whom she shared donations.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114 at 1:00 PM. followed by her memorial service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dolores' memory may be made to the Women's Animal Center (formerly The Women's Humane Society), 3839 Richelieu Rd. Bensalem, PA 19020 (215.750.3100) or to the Special Olympics of Bucks County, 2570 Boulevard of the Generals #124, Norristown, PA 19403 (215.345.5294).
