Dr. Michael A. Schiavone, DDS

Dr. Michael A. Schiavone, DDS, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Rita Ungaro Schiavone, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was the devoted father of Michael A. Schiavone II, M.D. (Barbara Luther), Vincent J. Schiavone (Linda), Joseph J. Schiavone (Ann), and Steven M. Schiavone, Esq. (Terry Andros).

He was the proud and loving Pop Pop of Nicole Wenger (Joseph), Michael Joseph (Kristen), Matt, Michael Angelo III, Peter, and Grace, and cherished his great-grandchildren, Joseph, Emmalynn, and Joshua Wenger.

Dear son of the late Generoso and Grazia Schiavone, and the brother of the late Jenny, the late Samuel, and the late Jerry.

Mike was the president of his Central High School class 193, graduated from Temple University and Temple University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Schiavone lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his faith, compassion for others, and dedication to his profession. Mike was the co-founder, frequent funder, chief Volunteer, and lifelong board member of Aid for Friends, now Caring for Friends. There was no Rita without Mike and no Mike without Rita. They were inseparable ever since they met on the train to Temple University until Rita passed away 9 years ago. Mike looked forward to being with Rita for all eternity.

Mike was a respected dentist. He started a free dental clinic at St. Vincents Orphanage, provided dentistry without cost to many of the areas, Nuns and Priests, and patients who could not afford to pay. He cared for generations of patients, many of whom became friends. Mike had a warm heart, sense of humor, smile for all, and he never counted what he gave. He lived his faith his entire life and treated everyone with kindness.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, August 8, 2026, 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Jerome Church, 8100 Colfax Street, Philadelphia, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. Schiavone's memory to The Rita Ungaro Schiavone Founders Fund at Caring for Friends would be greatly appreciated.
