E. Chester "Ches" Herbert, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Elaine (née Noyallis),

Ches was the loving father of Lauren David, James Herbert (Barbara), Peter Herbert (Michele), Edward Herbert (Amy), and Susan Kennedy (Jeffrey). He was the cherished Pop Pop of Jacquelyn (Jordan), Jennifer, Peter, Harley, Robert, Kayla, Shawn, Matthew, Melissa, Kevin, and Kyle, and the proud great grandpop of Jaden, Kendall, Addison, Caleb, and Lillyanna. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Marian Sokol (Tom) and Alice Nofziger (Wade), his caring in-laws, Joan and Bill Meehan, and all his nieces and nephews.

A dedicated professional, Ches began his career as a printer, moving into accounting after graduating from LaSalle University. Ches served as a certified public accountant with the City of Philadelphia Controller's Office. He also devoted more than 20 years of volunteer service to Catholic Scouting and more than 20 years of service to St. Katherine of Siena Church, a community that was central to his life and faith.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, December 12, 2025, 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM.  Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Katherine of Siena Parish School, 9738 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114 in Chester's memory would be appreciated.
