IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edmond G.
Watt
June 27, 1946 – March 12, 2022
Edmond G. Watt, beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully in his home on March 12, 2022 at the age of 75. He was the best friend and partner of Ari Stein, beloved husband of the late Virginia "Ginny", devoted father of Jennifer Watt (Shawn Hendree), Daniel Brace, and Shannon Geddes (Jason). He was also the dear pop pop of Jazmine, Shelby Brace, Jayson, Madison, Daniel Jr., Erik, Da'leeya, Leeam, and Meghan, brother of Ronald (Suzanne), Leo (Linda), Maureen Mann (Steven), Denise Ruggieri (Mark) and son of the late Edmond and Margaret Watt.
Ed was a proud veteran of the US Navy who enjoyed sharing his stories of his days on all of the submarines he served on. He had many stories of his time in Roda, Spain and Key West (which he fondly referred to as Cayo Hueso) during his time serving his country.
His long career with the IRS was filled with memories of travel, dear friendships and his passion for taxes. He was an IRS audit manager who was loved by all who worked with him and for him. After he retired, he still enjoyed sharing his immense wealth of knowledge about taxes and the federal government with anyone who had questions for him. In retirement, he truly enjoyed working every year during tax season with dear friends and colleagues at Jackson Hewitt.
When he wasn't doing taxes, he enjoyed camping, spending time with his grandkids and helping others in every way he could. He loved adventuring - one of his favorite memories to recount was his big family trip to Ireland. He was also an avid historian and loved discussing both past and current events. He always had a small, obscure (and often surprising!) tidbit of history to share during any conversation. He was passionate about his hometown of Philadelphia and loved sharing his knowledge about the city's political history.
Ed also loved music - Irish music in particular. He enjoyed attending live concerts and could always be found listening to music on his iPad or his phone. In addition to Ari, Ed lived with his good friend, Jessica Nataupsky, a professional violinist. One of his favorite activities was having chamber music concerts at home in northeastern Pennsylvania, in the backyard, with Jessica and friends playing string quartets well into the night. Being surrounded by beautiful music, delicious food, and friends and family, was one of his greatest joys.
Edmond was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all who has the privilege of knowing him.
