June 15, 1935 – July 29, 2019
Elizabeth (Betty/Liz) (nee McKinley) Halpin; born June 15, 1935, age 84 passed away with her family by her side in the Northeast Section of Philadelphia. Born in South Philadelphia, formerly of Exton Pa., and most recently The Villas, NJ. Liz was a waitress for many years at local restaurants in Philadelphia. She also worked part time at Vanguard. In later years she worked in Cape May at Victoria Manor as a receptionist. An avid reader, Liz loved the beach and her family and friends. She was proud of her Irish Heritage and was fortunate to visit Ireland. She was a dedicated Mama Bear to her 12 children whom she referred to as The Brady Bunch. She was a pet lover all of her life and leaves behind her beloved furry companions Mickey, Seppie Marley, and Lexi. She adored and loved all of her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Liz is survived by her daughter and caregiver Isabella Halpin of Northeast Philadelphia, son John Gavin (Jennifer) of Exton, Pa., daughter Elizabeth Gavin-Woodlin of Northeast Philadelphia, sister Peggy Cirelli. Also survived by step children Margaret Halpin-Bertrand (Scott), Marie Halpin-Gallo (Ricky), Catherine (Katie) Schelder (Steve), James Halpin, and Isabel (Missy) Halpin. Grandchildren, Joseph Abadie and wife (Jodi), April and Eric Gavin, twins Elizabeth and Katey Gavin, grandsons John and Thomas Gavin, Michael and Joseph Woodlin. Great grandchildren Caela, Jake, Delilyah, Geovanni, Josephine, Gavin, Elizabeth, Eric and Grace Gavin, Gage Gallo, Eli Oliva, Jackson and Liam Love, Gabby MacKenzie, Cassie Smith. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Step grandchildren Michael J. Smith, Marjorie and MaryAnn Betrand, Ricky and Katey Gallo, Ryan and Daniel Halpin, Billy Love and Maria D'ambrosia Oliva. She is predeceased by her first husband Joseph (Judgie) Gavin, and husband Bernie Halpin, first born son Joseph Gavin, Philadelphia, Pa., son Michael Gavin (Cape May), daughter Anne Gavin and (her husband Tom Bright) Cape May, son Patrick Gavin (Cape May). Her mother Margaret McKinley, sister Mary Prusinowski and brother Joseph McKinley, grandson Robert Halpin. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Thursday, August 1, 2019, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19114, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:00 AM. Interment is Private.
