Obituary

On Saturday, April 25 th , 2020, Enrico Fiocca passed away at age 93. He was preceded in death by Caterina (nee DeNicola), his loving wife of 73 years.  Enrico was a strong and dedicated father to Anna (Peter) Gatta and Linda (Michael) Poga. Enrico was a devoted Nonno to Joe (Giulia), Mark (Maria), and Jenna (Mike). He was also a blessed and grateful Nonni to six great-grandchildren Isabella, Pietro, Caterina, Fiorella, Donato, and Mason. Enrico was also preceded in death by his siblings Rosa, Concetta, Angelo, Giovanni, and Antonio.

Enrico was born on September 28, 1926 in Longano, Italy to Sabatino and Domenica Fiocca (nee Cancellieri).  In Italy, Enrico was a merchant and would travel to Naples and Rome to buy clothing, jewelry and shoes to sell in his hometown. Enrico came to America in 1952, to Philadelphia, where he was a maintenance mechanic, a contractor, and a landlord. Enrico owned various homes in Northeast Philadelphia. His pride of ownership showed in all of these family homes, but especially, at his home on Haworth street where he maintained a beautiful garden full of vegetables and fruit trees. Enrico enjoyed working in his garden, planting and cultivating vegetables for the delicious meals he so passionately made for his family and his friends. His meals were permeated with love and pride for his culture and family which he passed onto his children, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Enrico made wine and prosciutto, which he gladly shared with his friends and acquaintances. In his early years, he especially loved going fishing for trout and eel. Later in life, he enjoyed going to the beach with his family. He always loved being in the water. He was a lover of animals and the outdoors. Enrico took pleasure in being around people, a man with a dynamic personality that everyone wanted to be around, a man that would quite literally give you the shirt off his back. He was a sharp dresser and loved a good spritz of cologne to complete his look. Transcending above all the things he loved in this world, was his family. His commitment to their happiness was by far his greatest joy and desire throughout his life.

Services at this time will be held privately; a mass will be held in celebration of his life at a later time.
