Eugene (Gene, Pop, Shadow) Joseph DeMarco, 82, of Philadelphia, PA, went to join His Father in Heaven, passing away peacefully on February 22, 2021. He leaves behind his wife Joan DeMarco and their children Jo Richardson (Mark), Gene DeMarco, Jr., Lori DeMarco, Anthony DeMarco, and Sherri DeMarco, together with their families including six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gene will also be remembered by his sisters Carmela Pisacano and Linda D'Annunizo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.  A retired employee of Bond Bread and Philadelphia Dairy after 40 years of service.  Having never met a stranger, this avid Eagles fan genuinely enjoyed getting to know people. Gene's lifelong friendships were dear to him and some still call him by his nickname—Shadow, remembering how he followed his big brother all around the old neighborhood.

Gene's biggest accomplishment was being a father and grandfather. Our Pop was fully devoted to his family. Always stable through the ups and downs, he took care of his own, encouraging them to work hard, but to also enjoy every moment that God gave them. He will be remembered most for his kindness, humility, and generosity. Undoubtedly, his legacy lives on in all those he cared for, held close, and loved unconditionally.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Gene's life on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM, Burns Funeral Home 9708 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114, followed by his Service 12:00 PM.
