Ferdinand G. Reithmeier passed away after a long illness on February 8, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Dolores (née Wernery). Loving father of Mariann Blaney (Gerard), Dolores Grosso (Louis), and Joseph (Rochelle). Cherished Pop to Hilary, Lauren, Rachael, Krista, Chelsea, Cailin, and Matthew and their families, including 14 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Catherine Keys (the late Robert) and the late Albert Reithmeier (Doris). Fond brother-in-law of Albert (Barbara), Joseph (the late Margie), George (Rose), John (the late Connie), and the late William Wernery. Ferdinand is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Born on October 23, 1932, in Munich, Germany, Ferdinand and his family immigrated to America in 1938. He grew up in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia and attended North Catholic High School and Drexel University. He enjoyed a successful career at Progress Lighting at G and Erie Streets in Philadelphia for over 4 decades where he served for many years as the company’s Director of Sales.

Ferdinand met the love of his life, Dolores, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church choir in Philadelphia in 1955. They were married for 64 wonderful years creating a happy, nurturing, and fun-loving home. Together, they shared many passions, including bowling, casino trips, singing in the St. Timothy Church choir, enjoying the Jersey shore and Cape Cod, and spending many happy hours with their grandchildren. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Ferdinand especially loved cheering on the Phillies and the Sixers. He spent many happy hours playing pinochle with his family and in league play. He painted numerous pictures and in his early days, played a Hawaiian guitar. At home he was rarely without a newspaper or a puzzle in his hands. He valued the simple pleasures of life and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
