Florence Boyle Wood, a long-time resident of Northeast Philadelphia, died Monday the 8th of April at St. Joseph's Manor Rehab Facility.
Born 1928 in Philadelphia, Florence graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in 1946. In addition to homemaking, she held several full and part time positions in bookkeeping and insurance. Until her death at 90, she was the treasurer of the local senior citizens association.
She is survived by her brothers Louis Eckhardt and Joseph Eckhardt, her children: Florence Byrne, Kathleen Lauletta, Mary Salamone, Donna Huff and Edwin Boyle; step children John Wood and David Wood. She had 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, all of whom brought her great joy throughout the years. She was married to Edwin Boyle and later John Wood, both deceased.
Florence enjoyed her senior citizen group, playing cards with relatives, reading and attending church. She will be particularly remembered for her strength of character, loving way and loyalty to friends and family.
There will be a viewing on Saturday morning, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Christopher's Catholic Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, Pa. 19116. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa. 19020
