Frank passed away on December 5, 2018 of Philadelphia, age 83. Loving husband for 61 years of Johanna McGarvey (nee Quinn). Dear father of Frank McGarvey Jr. (Babe), Jim McGarvey (Reenie), Andy McGarvey (Betsy) and Joe McGarvey (Pam). Proud grandfather of Michael, Kevin, Ryan, Matthew, Molly, Jeffrey, Aidan and Anne. Proud great grandfather of Finleigh, Annie and Grace. Also survived by his sister Theresa Macy and brothers Bob McGarvey, Joe McGarvey, and many nieces and nephews.Frank served in the US Army in France and Germany during the occupation of Germany. Frank then worked as a tool and die maker for 41 years at the Budd Company in Hunting Park, Phila. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, the NY Times crossword puzzle and Ocean City, NJ. Frank will be remembered for his selfless commitment to his family and his life long compassion and empathy for others. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday 11:00 AM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 followed by his Service at 1:00 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
