IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis B.
White
April 17, 1939 – June 21, 2024
Francis B. White "Franny" passed away June 21, 2024, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Boyle). Predeceased by his son Danny (Nancy). Devoted father of Jane (Jimmy) Lockhart. Loving Pop of Shannon, Uncle Pop of Brendan and Lainey, and Pop White to Bella, Avery, and Mac. Dear brother of Margaret Knox (the late James), Eileen McKeown (James), Sr. Kathleen White, IHM, and the late Seamus, Mary, Elizabeth Bonner (the late Charles), Gerard, Ellen, John, Thomas (the late Edna), Patrick (the late Ellen), Vincent, Anne McLaughlin (the late Don), Lawrence, and Daniel (the late Laureen); survived by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife's best friend Kate Raltson.
Francis was raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia with his fifteen brothers and sisters. He attended Holy Name of Jesus School and then West Catholic High School, from which he graduated Class of 1957. As Franny would say "Only the best go to West!"
Francis worked as a warehouse manager/supervisor for Holt Logistics for a number of years. In his downtime he enjoyed sitting on his porch on Beach Lehigh listening to oldies, watching college football and his nights out at the Kensington Amvets Post 146 with his brother and friends. His friends at the Amvets named him "Head Muppet in Charge" a title he loved and embraced.
He met, fell in love and married Marie Boyle. They shared many wonderful years filled with laughter, stories and adventures. They raised their two loving children, Danny and Jane, in Saint Anne Parish. Franny taught his children how to love unconditionally, there is always room at the table for more people, family is the most important thing in life and pray to Our Blessed Mother each day.
Franny prayed the Rosary every day, a tradition he learned from his Mom and Dad at an early age, and he carried a pocket rosary every day even to his final day.
Coming from an extremely large family, Franny embraced his many roles as son, brother, but he especially loved the role as uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He brought everyone together at his annual family Christmas party.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM St. Anne Church, 2328 East Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Kensington Amvets 146 2502 East Sergeant Street Philadelphia PA 19125 or Mother of Divine Grace School Tuition Assistance 2612 East Monmouth Street Philadelphia, PA 19134.
