Obituary

George J. Boothman, IV, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Denise (née Parisi), George was the devoted father of Erin Hatfield (Ryan) and Cortney Spiker (Greg), and the cherished grandpop of Anna, Celine, Isabelle, Giovanna, and Jordi. He was the dear brother of Deborah Squires and Brett Boothman; he is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

A man of dedication and service, George's career was marked by his deep commitment to both law enforcement and community. He served in the Air Force National Guard prior to his career with the Philadelphia Police Department. He retired as a police captain after 22 years of honorable service. During his time in law enforcement, George proudly graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy, further demonstrating his dedication to excellence in his field. He also earned degrees from both Holy Family University and Saint Joseph's University.

George's passion for helping others didn't stop with his career in law enforcement. After retiring, he devoted 10 years to the School District of Philadelphia as a special education teacher where his impact on students' lives was immeasurable. George was a licensed realtor in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where he assisted many families with buying and selling their homes, offering practical advice and reliable support every step of the way.

A lifelong coach, George had an unmatched passion for swimming, leading teams at both the elementary and high school levels. He absolutely loved his time as head coach for the SKS swim team and even formed his own United States team, Nor'easter Swimming. He generously gave his time to coach other sports as well, including softball and volleyball. As an active volunteer in the community, he served as youth minister at St. Katherine of Siena Church and later sang in the choir at Notre Dame de la Mer in Wildwood Crest.

George was the proud founder of the Parisi Family Fantasy Football League, a passionate Eagles and Phillies fan, and lover of great music, which he often turned all the way up as he worked around the house and garden.  He became a wonderful gardener and had quite the green thumb, growing incredibly beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables.

Of the many titles George held over the years, his favorite was definitely Grandpop. Whether they were on adventures to the boardwalk, playing mini golf, poker at the arcade, or enjoying a cozy afternoon of board games, and movies, George's joy was in the laughter and love he shared with his family. His heart was always full when he was surrounded by his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 4, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Dominic's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to the St. Baldrick's Foundation, 1333 Mayflower Avenue, Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016.
