George A. DiMarcantonio passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of June 14, 2026. George was preceded in death by his loving parents, Loretto and Catherine and his siblings: Edna, Joe, Minnie and their spouses.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Eleanor (née Misunas). He was the proud and loving father of George, Michael, Candice Fagnani (Michael), and Nicholas (TerriAnn). He was the cherished PopPop of Regina, Benjamin, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
George grew up in the Swampoodle section of Philadelphia and attended St. Mary’s Grade School. He was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School and later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Saint Joseph’s University. George courageously served in the US Army with a deployment to Korea. After his honorable discharge, George spent many years working in retail management. He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan; he especially loved the Eagles and Phillies and could often be heard enthusiastically cheering them on from his recliner. Above all, George treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. His love, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
