George W. Preston passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. George proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a former Teamster and U.S. Postal Service truck driver. George was a longtime Fishtown resident. He was 78 years old.
George is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Judith (nee Girard) and was the loving father of Keith, Karl, and Kerri Peppelman (George). He was the loving grandfather of Isabella Preston, Josie Peppelman and Rowan Peppelman.
George was also the dear brother of Gary, Joseph (Lillian), Nancy Bartelle (Anthony) and Aileen Staffieri (Mark) and the late April McDevitt and Dorothy Preston. George was also the dear brother-in-law to Gregory Girard (Carol) and the late Richard Girard. George was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
George will be reunited in Heaven with his loving mother Aileen Preston, whom he missed deeply.
George had many passions in life which included family, animals, music, and sports. George loved playing with his grandchildren. George enjoyed feeding the neighborhood birds and cats. George had a fondness for music. He loved listening to classic rock and discovering new music. He was always "Searching for That Sound". His favorite station on SiriusXM radio was Deep Tracks. You would always see George sporting his Grateful Dead or Allman Brothers tie dye t-shirts while walking his beloved border collie Garth. George enjoyed following his favorite sports teams which included the Philadelphia Phillies and Manchester City F.C.
