Gerald R. Burns, Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 10, 2024 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 57 years to Jenny (nee Simeti). Loving father of Gerald R. Burns, Jr. (Nidya), and Jennifer Cherkis. Dear Pop Pop of Gerald III, Matthew, Paul III, Kyle, Joseph, Angelina, Raquel, and Rafael. Brother of Raymond Burns (Dawn), Mariann McNally (Michael), and the late Robert Burns. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and large extended family. Jerry was a US Marine veteran and a retired Lieutenant of the Philadelphia Police Dept. after 28 years of service. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday February 16, 2024 at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 from 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM followed by his Service at 12:00 PM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the FOP Lodge 5 Survivors Fund, 11360 Caroline Rd. Phila., PA 19154 would be appreciated.
