Obituary

Gwynne Catherine (Ricci) Corson, 36, passed away in the early morning of May 29th, 2018 after a courageous 3 year struggle with cancer.

She was born on May 10th, 1982 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. As a child, she was lovingly nicknamed "Little Miss Bossy," for her spunk, her ability to mother her baby sisters (and whatever other neighborhood kids were willing to listen) and a maturity beyond her years. A graduate of Central Bucks West, class of 2001, Gwynne was extremely athletic, with accolades in cheerleading, soccer and track & field, where her little legs carried her unbelievably quickly over hurdles and past competitors. She went on to study early education at Mansfield University.

Gwynne was the devoted wife of Philadelphia Police Officer & Firearms Instructor Daniel Corson, and was immensely proud of his work for our city. They met, fell quickly in love (through a lot of laughter) and were married in 2008, going on to have four beautiful children. Her children were her life.

A very committed mother, Gwynne saw her son and three daughters to and from multiple activities, structured their days and found joy in dressing them accordingly. She barely missed a moment with them. Her memory will continue to live on through them especially, as her dreams for them are achieved in time. Gwynne was fulfilled through mothering her children, as well as teaching gymnastics to young kids, and caring for many other children out of her home. Cancer nor chemo could stop her from giving up her dedication to any of these things. Gwynne was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Collier Ricci, and many grandparents; Joseph Ricci, Edmund and Dorothy Schauseil, Thomas Collier and Stephen and Jeanette Drabick.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel, her four young children, whom she loved beyond words: Wesley, Lucy, Molly and Zoey; her parents Harvey "Bud" and Natalie Ricci, and Wesley and Patricia Corson; her siblings Jeremy Ricci (Lori), Alyson Ricci Moyer (Justin), Elysse Ricci Achuff (Mark) and Derek Corson (Amy) and Danielle Antalosky (Brad); and by her beloved Mom-mom, Marian Ricci. Aunt Gwynne will be very sorely missed by her nine nieces and nephews, whom will carry very special memories of her with them always.

Her most favorite days were spent on the beach in Ocean City New Jersey, in flip-flops, watching her children play in the sand and waves, with the sun on her face and a popsicle in hand; and there we will imagine her for eternity.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial on Monday, June 4th from 9 to 11:45AM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19114, followed by her service at 12PM. Interment private. Please keep dress as casual and comfortable as possible, as would be requested by Gwynne.
