Helen Marie Coyne (née Curran), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful servant of God, passed peacefully into eternal life on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She was 79 years old.
Born on January 4, 1947, Helen lived a life rooted in family, faith, kindness, service, and quiet strength.
Helen was a loving wife and devoted mother whose greatest joy was her family. She created a home filled with warmth, care, laughter, and faith. She possessed a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and a deep love for those around her. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply her steady presence, Helen made others feel known, welcomed, and loved.
Her commitment to her family and the community was reflected in her many years of volunteering at St. Katherine of Siena School while her children were attending there. Her service to the community then continued at the Father Judge High School where she became a vital part of the fabric at Father Judge. Helen first gave generously of her time as a volunteer and later served for many years as a beloved and dedicated secretary, offering care, kindness, and steady support to students, families, and staff.
To her children and grandchildren, Helen (Mom Mom) was a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. She delighted in the lives of those she cherished and took great pride in her family. Her legacy lives on through her devotion to family and the love she expressed through everyday acts of care and compassion.
Helen’s final days were met with courage, dignity, and the peace that comes from a life well lived and deeply loved. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord and reunited with those who have gone before her. Helen was predeceased by her parents, James and Helen Curran, and her sister, Mary Levins.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Frank; her children, Frankie (Alice), Mary Beth Neal (Mickey), and Tom (Trish); her grandchildren, Hannah, Caroline, Evelyn, Rose, and Finnegan; her sister, Peggy Doyle; and the many family members and friends whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia. A second viewing will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Helen requested that donations be made in her memory to Father Judge High School, a community she loved and served for many years.
