Obituary

A graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, class of 1949, and a proud member of Steamfitters Local 420 for 65 years, passed away on April 28, 2016 at the age of 84. Harry became a Journeyman Steamfitter in 1955. In 1958 he began his instructor career with the local, which led to his appointment in 1962 as Director of Training. He led the training center until his retirement in 1996. During his 65 years with Local 420, Harry received many accolades for his unyielding dedication to his union brothers and sisters. He was sincerely humbled when the Steamfitters training center was named the Harry F. Plummer Training Center in 2014. Harry was the beloved husband of the late Loretta E. (nee Gruber). He is survived by his children Loretta (Colin) Shields, Michael (Karen), Joseph (Patti), Thomas (Miriam) and Robert (Lori); he is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday Eve 6-9 PM and Friday 10-11:15 AM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 followed by his Funeral Mass 12 PM at St. Matthew Church (upper church). Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's memory may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice Inpatient., 521 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006 or online at www.holyredeemer.com
