On Saturday, February 22, 2020, James C. Brooks, a loving husband, father and poppy, passed away suddenly at the age of 58. Jim was born on May 9, 1961 to Thomas and Regina Brooks (nee Price).  He was raised in Fishtown alongside his siblings Thomas (deceased) and Janice Burke (Christian) where he attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from Frankford High School.  He then enlisted in the United States Air Force.  In 1986, he began working for the Department of Defense as a Federal Police Officer at the Naval Base where he still worked up until his death.

In 1989, Jim ran into a neighborhood girl he had known for many years at the local Thriftway and asked her on a date.  On December 27, 1991, he married that girl - the love of his life - Tina Brooks (nee Costick).  He immediately took on the role as loving father to Ashley Costick.  His love for us was only surpassed when his "Little Bunny" Emma Costick was born in front of him the day before his birthday.  Emma and Poppy were best friends from the moment they laid eyes on each other.

Jim was also survived by his nieces, nephews, godson and many cousins.  Jim was the definition of a "family man".  His girls and his furry buddy, Maverick, were his life.  To say he will be missed is a severe understatement.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and also Friday, February 28, 2020, 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM, Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, followed by his Service 11:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police, PO Box 17242, Philadelphia, PA 19105 in his memory.
