Obituary

James Raymond Landgraf passed away on March 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family: his devoted wife, Jeanne (nee Gilroy); his adored only daughter, Jeannie; and his cherished son-in-law, Pete Terry. His recent joy was his long-awaited grandson, Dylan James. A brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many, the absence of this one-of-a-kind man leaves a profound void.

He is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, Mary "Mame" & Charles, as well as his siblings Margaret, Charles, Robert, Alma, Helena, and Joseph. Born on February 28, 1940, Jimmy was the youngest, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and happy times.

A true Philadelphian at heart, he was raised in Southwest Philly and proudly made Mayfair his home. His educational journey from West Catholic to the University of Pennsylvania fostered a lifelong love of learning. He proudly served in the US Army as a radio operator, with memorable times spent in Germany and Spain, further enriching his worldly perspective.

Before his self-employment venture to prioritize family, Jim worked at PECO. This flexibility allowed him to fulfill a cherished role: being the ultimate girl dad to Jeannie. Ensuring the pantry was well-stocked, homework was done, and dinner was on the table every night by 6 PM were hallmarks of his character. This commitment to his family underscored his love and dedication.

Jim's love for music, curating the perfect outfits, and staying abreast of the news, whether it be from his driveway or beyond, made "Action Jim" a well-rounded individual who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He spent many peaceful afternoons rocking with grand dog, Mickey, or on his front porch, listening to music and engaging in conversation with neighbors. An entertainer at heart, his home was other times filled with the drink or Tastykake of your preference, laughter, music and spirited conversation.

An avid Phillies and Eagles fan, his spirit was as enduring as his love for Philadelphia sports. He also enjoyed a good early bird special, going to the theatre, and trips to AC.

His final years, and especially weeks, were focused on the hope of returning to his residence in North Wildwood, a testament to his love for "the shore" and a proud culmination of many years of cherished memories.

In his memory, let's share stories, laughs, and toast to a man who left us with an enduring legacy of love, commitment, and laughter.
