James T. Vaughan

James T. Vaughan passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to Kay (nee Sommers). James was the devoted father of Michael (Dolores), MaryKay Schaefer (Daniel), JulieAnne Rutkowski, Jim (Michelle), Bob, and David. He was a loving Pop Pop to 11 grandchildren, Great Grandpop to 21 great-grandchildren, and Great Great Grandpop to one great-great-grandson.

A proud retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, James also retired from the United States government after many years of dedicated service. His commitment to his country and his work was a source of great pride throughout his life. But above all, James was a devoted family man. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and also Friday, October 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Road, Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' memory to Christ the King Church would be appreciated.
