Obituary

Jeri Dmyterko lost her battle to kidney cancer on September 1, 2025 surrounded by her daughters and friends, whom she called family. She was born on October 22, 1950 to Joseph and Maria Smoczylo who were Ukrainian refugees in Leicester, England. In 1954, Jeri and her parents immigrated to Philadelphia.  As an only child she was doted on by her parents and friends. She attended St. Josaphat Elementary School followed by St. Basil Academy. After high school Jeri attended Manor Junior College and graduated with a degree in education and a specialization in Spanish from Steubenville University. While at Steubenville, Jeri had the opportunity of a lifetime to study Spanish in Spain and backpack through Europe.

Jeri met her husband Zenon Dmyterko at a Ukrainian Festival at Manor Junior College. They were married October 19, 1974. They raised 2 daughters Maria (Marusia) Stone (Dennis Stone, husband, and Riordan Stone, son) and Lesia Dmyterko (Molly Duffy wife). She had one grandson Riordan Zenon who was the light of her life.

Professionally, Jeri taught Spanish at Penn Center Academy, was a Business Manager at the YMCA and retired from her job as the Billing and Accounts Receivable Manager at Peirce College. In retirement Jeri flourished, she traveled, spent time with her grandson in Chicago, picked up hobbies such as quilting, played cards at various senior centers, became a lady who lunches, enjoyed the numerous tea houses in the area, made new friends and lived life to the fullest. Over the last few years Jeri became a big Phillies fan and enjoyed going to Citizens Bank Park to cheer on her Phillies.

Jeri's graduation quote from Manor Junior College was 'fond of fun as fond can be" with this sentiment the family asks that in lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Smoczylo Dmyterko Fund the Fun to help fund student activities at Manor Junior College, a place she loved so much.
