Jean T. Armstrong, beloved wife of the late William J. Armstrong Sr., passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.
Jean was raised at St. Joseph's Home for Destitute Children located at 29th and Allegheny Avenues in Philadelphia, PA (currently Mercy Tech High School) by the Sisters of St. Joseph. She was a proud graduate of Hallahan Catholic High School, Class of 1959. She married the love of her life Bill, November 11, 1967. She dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and the wonderful aroma of her baking, especially her signature sugar cookies. Jean enjoyed keeping up with family and friends on Facebook, was a longtime admirer of Donny Osmond, loved watching QVC, and never missed an opportunity for a trip to IGA. She was a lifelong Fishtown resident, she treasured her neighborhood and the many friendships she shared throughout the years.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jean is survived by her loving children, Michele Armstrong, (George), William Armstrong Jr. (Bernadette), and Susan Caraballo (Rick). She was the cherished Mom-Mom of Lauren, William III, Logan, Samantha, Maeve, Kai, Josef, and the late Grayson. She was the proud Great Mom-Mom of Olivia, Logan, Adalyn, Owen and Winnie. Jean is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was the youngest and last surviving sibling of her family, affectionately named "Baby Lucas" to Helen, Rose, John, Marion, Eleanor, Walter, Gene and Verlyn. She was the dear sister-in-law of Roseann, John, Robert and the late James, Joseph, Michael, Edward, Ann, Marie, Lillian, Joan, Florence and Margaret. Jean was also a treasured friend of the late Sis and Bill Goebig, of the late Betty Moebius, of Marilyn and Joe Meenan and Pat McGuirl whose friendships brought her great joy throughout her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Jean’s viewing on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Philadelphia, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church, 701 Gaul Street Philadelphia, PA 19125. In honor of Jean and her generous spirit, the family requests you to perform a random act of kindness.
