Joan
Kumor
May 30, 1935 – November 28, 2025
Joan (Loynd) Kumor, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 28, 2025. She will be forever loved and remembered by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband the late Raymond Kumor and her dear daughter the late Kathleen Kumor. Beloved mother of Stephen (Barbara), Michael (Kathy), Daniel (Cynthia), Ronald (Michele), Lawrence (Nancy), Kenneth (Heather). Adored Granny to Stephanie (Christian), Matthew (Taylor), Colin (Shelley), Sydney, Zachary (Ellen), Chase (Natalie), Maria, Shane, Jessica, Jack, Julia, Jeffrey, and Trent. Dear great grandmother of Amelia, Henryk, Rhys, and Leo. Greeted in heaven by her beautiful granddaughters, Morgan Kathleen and Mary Angelina.
Family was the center of Joan's life. Joan and Ray married in 1957 and built a wonderful life together. They raised seven children and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and traditions including summer pool parties with family and friends. Joan instilled in her children the importance of hard work in all areas of life, especially education. While dedicating herself full-time to raising seven children, she found the time to help manage her husband's law practice and accompany him to political functions during his campaign for office.
After the heartbreaking loss of her only daughter and her husband just seven months apart in 1985/86, Joan found the courage to carry on. Joan became a source of strength for her entire family, showing a path forward even through such a difficult time. Joan was a devout Catholic, attending mass daily at St. Katherine of Siena Church. In many times she relied on her faith for strength.
Joan was a true Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies. She also loved to travel. Joan was a proud graduate of Frankford High School. Joan not only met her husband Raymond at Frankford High, but she also made lifelong friends whom she enjoyed spending time with, including on several wonderful vacations. Joan loved her aunts, uncle, and many cousins including MaryAnn who was a lifelong friend. Joan had a love of life and laughter. She even enjoyed when she was relentlessly teased to say who was her favorite son.
