John E. Atchison passed away November 10, 2023.  Beloved husband of Rita (nee Dillon).  Devoted father of John "Jack" Jr. (Ruth), Eileen Knowles (Jim), and Margie Wilkinson (Guy).  Loving pop of Jake, James, Carly, Audrey, Kayla, Emma, Lucy, and Brigid.  Dear brother of Dolores Murphy, Catherine Rooney, and the late Eileen Queeney;  survived by many nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, Nov. 21, 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM St. Dominic Church.  Interment will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22, 9:30 AM Washington Crossing Natl. Cemetery.  Funeral procession will form and leave Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave. at 8:30 AM.

John was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Sergeant of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 20 years. He was a devoted husband to Rita for 51 years and showed extreme pride for his three children. He adored his eight grandchildren and found joy in their accomplishments. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, he was dedicated to the Phillies and Eagles. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing on the Delaware River and hiking the trails of PA.
