He was born November 12, 1932, to Eleanor McGlinchy (nee English) and John Carson, Sr., Married to his beloved wife, Maryann F. Carson (nee Finley), for over 65 years, who preceded him in death. John served in the Army for 20 years in various capacities; most notably, he worked on nuclear missiles during the Cold War. John was a Korean War Veteran, retiring as Sergeant First Class. During his tenure in the military, John was awarded twice for outstanding achievement in recruitment and recognized as one of the Top Male Nurse Recruiters nationally. After retiring from the military, he worked for the City of Philadelphia Prison System, progressively advancing his 25-year career to Deputy Warden at the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center, where he played a vital role in the design and construction of the facility. He was a 4th Degree Knight and a lifetime St. John Neumann Assembly member, 933. John was active in the St. Jerome's Senior Citizens, serving as President for several years alongside his wife, Maryann. John enjoyed his retirement to the fullest, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, and volunteering at St. Dominic's Church as a Eucharistic minister and a choir member. John is survived by his three sons, John E. Carson III (Darcy), Steven R. Carson (Brad), Joseph T. Carson (Lillian), and daughter-in-law Maureen. Six grandchildren: Colleen, Blair, Jenna (Derek), Jessica (Matt), Duncan, Morgan, and nine great-grandchildren.
