John J. Costick, Sr. passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023 at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Costick (nee Wheeler).  Devoted father of Tina Brooks (the late Jim), John J. Costick, Jr. (Gloria), Kimberly Costick (Tony Staniskis) and Maryanna Fitzwater (Donald).  Cherished grandfather to Ashley Costick, Lauramarie Mann, Keith Costick, Christopher Costick (Charly), Cole Costick, Victoria Bernek and Matthew Costick Marlin.  Great-Grandfather to 10 great-grandchildren.  Brother of the late Anita Costick.

John was extremely devoted to his family that he loved very much, especially his wife Eleanor. He was the definition of a true "family man" and was our constant supporter and protector.

John loved to cook and play music.  In the 1950's, he learned to play the clarinet and the Saxaphone and later joined a band playing for weddings and different events.  In the 1980's, John would then join Ukrainian American String band.  His love for the string bands grew and continued to play for various other string bands until 2009.

Most of all, John's greatest love was being surrounded by his family, together with his wife Eleanor and his dog Bear.

John will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.  Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Burns Funeral Home (9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia PA 19114) from 9:30AM-11:00AM, followed by his Funeral Service, Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John's name to the PSPCA of Philadelphia.
