John M. Lonergan, of Fishtown, passed away suddenly on October 8, 2019 at the age of 73. Loving companion of Joyce Windfelder. Loving father of Jason Lonergan, and Evan Lonergan (Heather). Dear Grandpa of Keith and Hannah. He is also survived by his brother Joseph (Sally). John was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and Temple University. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. John served and retired as a Pennsylvania Parole Officer. He was a founding member and Pipe Major Emeritus of the Philadelphia Police & Fire Pipes and Drums Band. John was also the Chairman of CPL. Charles J. Glenn, III Memorial. He will be missed by many. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday Eve 7:00-9:00 PM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 1428 E. Columbia Ave. Phila., PA 19125. His service will be held on Friday 8:00 AM at the funeral home. Johns interment with full military honors will be held 9:30 AM at Beverly National Cemetery, 916 Bridgeboro Rd. Beverly, NJ 08010. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Cpl. Charles J. Glenn Memorial, WSFS Bank, 2514 Aramingo Ave. Phila., PA 19125 would be appreciated.
