John H. Smalley, of Philadelphia, was welcomed into Christ's loving arms on May 16, 2015 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of over 68 years to Pauline (nee Wilk). Loving and devoted father to Sharon (Ron), Cheryl (John), Paula (Neil), Holly (Jeff), Cindi (Tom), John W. (Lorena), Mary Ellen, and April Lynne. Grandfather of 21, great grandfather of 14 and great-great grandfather of 3. He is also survived by his brother Bill as well as his large extended family. John served in the Navy during WWII on an LSM ship. He was a cold storage refrigeration engineer at Holt Co. for many years. John loved the Phillies, the Price is Right and read the Bible daily. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday 11 AM at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19114 where family and friends can pay their respects. Service will begin at 12:30 PM. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Living Word Church, 2345 E. Susquehanna Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19125 would be appreciated.
