Joseph P. McCloskey

Joseph P. McCloskey, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Maureen McCloskey (née McCann), and a devoted father to Jill McGinley, her husband Jerry, and Tara Cawley, her husband Timothy. He was a proud and cherished “Pop Pop” to Griffin, Emerson, and Maeve.

Joe is survived by his dear brother Alexander McCloskey, and his brother-n-law John McCann. His siblings James McCloskey, John McCloskey, Dolores Kelly, and Jane Andress preceded him in death.

Joe and Maureen met at a dance 63 years ago, and have been dancing together through life ever since, their years together a testament to love, partnership, and family.

A proud United States Navy veteran, Joe went on to work as a machinist at ITE. Following his time there, he dedicated 25 years as a painter at the VA Hospital.

Joe was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, with a special love for the Eagles. He was a devoted season ticket holder for over 40 years and rarely missed a game.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 8:30 to 10:15 AM at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
