Obituary

Kathleen D. Ochs "Kathy" (nee Stone), a lifelong Philadelphian born and raised in Juniata Park, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024 with her family by her side. Kathy, a devoted wife of 53 years to Paul L. Ochs, began her enduring relationship with Paul 62 years ago as students at Holy Innocents, marking the start of a lifetime of love and partnership. She was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Miriam Stone.  Kathy leaves behind a legacy as a loving mother to Christopher Ochs (Denise), Kathleen Biddle (Michael), Gina Ali (Freddy), and the late Paul C. Ochs. Kathy cherished her role as Mom Mom, never missing an opportunity to celebrate the lives of her grandchildren Josh, Ethan, Alex, Benjamin, Theo, Greta, and Tess. She was a dear sister to Bebe Wurtenberg (Bugsy), Robby Stone (Colleen), and the late Joseph "Jody" Stone.  She will be deeply missed by her many loving nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, Kathy began her work on Jewelers Row, where she dedicated many years of service while forging lasting relationships. As her family grew, Kathy shifted to working part-time as a waitress near her home, so that she could be there for her four children after school, ensuring she was a constant presence in their lives. Kathy placed a high value on education, instilling this in her children, all of whom became first-generation college graduates, a testament to her influence and support. Kathy found joy, fun, and friendship in her later years working at Finnigan's Wake, a community that became like an extended family. Her summers were spent creating treasured memories with her family and friends in North Wildwood, a tradition spanning many decades that brought her happiness.

Overall, Kathy's life was devoted to her family, focusing on their care, togetherness, and success, laying a solid foundation for their accomplishments and raising future generations. She was a pillar of love, strength, and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Holy Innocents Church, L Street and E. Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia, PA. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
