IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen
Walsh
January 4, 1944 – May 30, 2022
Kathleen Theresa Walsh passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2022. She was born in 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (nee Kehoe) Walsh. Kathleen is survived by two sisters, Patricia (late Francis) Wargocki and Maryellen Cleary, as well as five nieces, nephews and their spouses: Bridgette (Patrick) Tobler; Danielle (Joseph) Walsh; Ryan Cleary; Michael (Cindy) Wargocki; and Steven (Caryn) Wargocki. She was also a great aunt to Gabrielle Tobler, Joey Walsh, Kerri Walsh, McKenzie Tobler, Alex Wargocki, Ben Wargocki, Cara Wargocki, and Julianna Wargocki.
Kathleen spent her early years growing up in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia, where she had easy access to the nearby Art Museum, Logan Library and Benjamin Franklin Institute. She loved taking long walks in Fairmount Park and going to the movies, especially musicals, which she would often re-create with her siblings. Being a girl scout and selling cookies were favorite activities. She became a lifelong fan of television in the early 1950's when the industry was in its infancy. When her family moved to the Northeast, she adjusted well to her new neighborhood and school.
In 1964, Kathleen graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School and was a proud alumna. After graduation, Kathleen had a fulfilling career for more than five decades as a legal secretary for several law firms in Philadelphia. She was curious about seeing the world and enjoyed traveling to Ireland, where her father was born, and to several other countries, including Scotland, England, France, Switzerland, China, Israel and Egypt. After 9/11 she stopped flying but continued traveling on land to New England, Canada and cities along the East Coast.
Throughout her life, Kathleen was a real city girl who used public transportation and walked everywhere. She loved clothes and had a flair for fashion. After her retirement, she continued traveling and became interested in watching vintage movies. Kathleen enjoyed all kinds of food and liked cooking. She took pride in taking care of her home, and her special daily ritual was brewing cups of tea. Most of all, Kathleen will be remembered for being a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt. She loved all of them and they loved her too.
