Kenneth L. "Chris" Christy, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (née Flanagan). Loving son of the late Malcolm and Katherine Christy. Loving father of Elizabeth Lauro (Mike), Lance W. Flint, Jr. (Marta), Eric Samuel Flint, Sr. (Joelle), and Kenneth L. Christy, Jr. (Melanie). Cherished Grandpop of Sophia, Eric Jr., Julianna, Beth, Lance III, Kenzie, Kaleb, Kylie, and Sonya. Dear brother of Ronald, Kathleen, Charles, Kathy, and the late Kermit. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Chris excelled in athletics during his youth, particularly in track and field, where he accomplished the remarkable feat of running a mile in under four minutes. His life took a different path when he answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Chris proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served with distinction. His bravery and sacrifice earned him numerous honors, including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and National Defense Service Medal. He remained immensely proud of his military service throughout his life.

The Marine Corps brought Chris to Philadelphia, where he met the love of his life, Betty, beginning a marriage filled with love and devotion. He later worked as an engineer for the Philadelphia Prison System, where he dedicated many years of service.

As a father, Chris treasured the time he spent with his children, often taking them fishing and hunting and creating memories that would last a lifetime. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, though deep down he never stopped cheering for his hometown Minnesota Vikings. Above all else, Chris loved spending time with his family. Whether gathered for holidays, celebrations, or simply enjoying each other's company, he found his greatest happiness surrounded by those he loved most.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 1428 E. Columbia Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by his Funeral Service at 8:00 PM.
