IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard J.
Rigby, Jr.
July 31, 1923 – June 14, 2024
Leonard J. Rigby, Jr. passed away June 14th, 2024, just shy of his 101st birthday. Len was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee Truitt). Devoted father of Len Rigby III (Marcia), Ann Avery (Jim), and Kathy Smith (Dan). Loving Grandpop to Michelle Petta (Rich), Jackie Siomos (Judah), Brian Avery (Amanda), Steve Avery (Kaitlynn), Jess Ressler (Dan), and Matt Smith (Natalie). Dear Great-Grandpop to Jocelyn & Lucas Siomos, Brayden & Cora Avery, Anna & Chase Avery, and soon to be Baby Ressler. Len was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at All Saints Episcopal Church (9601 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114) from 9:30-11:00AM, followed by his Funeral Service. Interment will be at the Church Cemetery. In memory of Len, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Len was a lifelong resident of Torresdale (Northeast Philadelphia). He worked at his father's auto repair station since he was a young boy, and he enjoyed being a mechanic for many years. He finally retired at the age of 87 (and a half, as he might add). Len loved to work, whether it was fixing a car or mowing the lawn. He never was faced with a task that he didn't enjoy. Len's other passions in life included playing pool (and usually winning), gardening, camping, and woodworking. He handmade and gifted many heirloom pieces to his kids and grandkids. Len was part of America's Greatest Generation and was a decorated WWII Veteran in the European Theatre, earning a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct service medal. Len loved his life and his family, and he will be greatly missed.
