Obituary

Lillian C. Avato  suddenly, March 29, 2020, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 93. She is the beloved widow of Frank R. Jr. Loving mother of Jim (Becky) and Joan Avato. Mom Mom to Christopher (Lauren) Gregory and Michael. Great mom mom to Julianna, Alexandra, and Lucas.

Lillian was born in Philadelphia to Louis and Mary (Mazzullo) Pulice.  She grew up in the Logan Section of Philadelphia.  She and her five siblings were inseparable, sharing their family lives and commitment to each other from childhood through their adult years.  She was a fixture at her children's school and sports events, always one of the first parents to volunteer to assist wherever possible.  She volunteered numerous years in a variety of capacities in the Archbishop Ryan High School community where she made many life-long friends.  An avid sports fan, she could be heard "commenting" on the Phillies porous bullpen and that they could never get a runner home from third base with less than two outs.

She was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the loves of her life.  Her engaging personality and sense of fun and family always put her at the center of family gatherings where continuous laughter rang across the room as a result of her colorful story telling.  She had great faith in God and a common-sense approach to the world and its challenges that led her successfully along life's path.  She was kind in her words unless you crossed her family - then watch out.  Generous to a fault she gave even when she had little.

To say she will be missed is an understatement, but we will have the lessons she taught and the memories she gave us that will keep her with us forever.

Lillian's memorial mass will be held on Saturday October 3, 2020 at St. Katherine of Siena Catholic Church at 9700 Frankford Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.  Visitation will be in church from 9:00 to 1030 AM; memorial mass 1030.

Please respect social distancing by sitting every other pew.  Please wear a mask.
