Livia Mary Valentino, age 94, of Philadelphia passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, March 3, 2018. Born in 1923, she was the daughter of Severina and Donato Travaglini. Beloved wife of the late James Peter Valentino and beloved sister of the late Lucy Magro and Pasquale Travaglini, her memory shall be cherished by her daughter, Denise Kelly; her son, Jim Valentino; her five grandchildren, Chris Kelly, Tim Kelly, Rebecca Kelly, Alex Valentino, and Justin Valentino; her two great grandchildren, Paige and Charlotte Kelly; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Livia, known as "Sis" to friends and "Super Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lived a long life full of happiness, joy, and laughter. She was an administrative assistant for the Pennsylvania Railroad during and after World War II and then a saleswoman at the Strawbridge and Clothier in downtown Philadelphia for over two decades. She loved watching college basketball, playing bocce and cards with friends, visiting relatives in New Jersey and South Florida, and vacationing with her family at Disney World, Brigantine, and New Orleans.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM at St. Timothy's Church, 3001 Levick St, Philadelphia PA 19149 followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Livia's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
