Obituary

Loretta Karpinski, 96 of Nashua, NH and formerly of Pennsylvania died Friday April 26, 2013 at the Hunt Community in Nashua, NH.
Born August 30, 1916 in Shamokin, PA she was the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Andjhieski) Wasko. She was the widow of Joseph A. Karpinski, who died July 28, 1990 and with whom she married on January 11, 1938 in Shamokin, PA. Loretta's sister, Alma Poncoski and two brothers, William and Martin Wasko also predeceased her.
Loretta had attended grammar school in Shamokin, PA as well as high school in Shamokin, PA where her brother Martin taught.
At one time, Loretta worked in the cafeteria at Central H.S. in Philadelphia, PA until her husband requested that she retire.
She crocheted many things during idle times and loved music and dancing and would even dance in her kitchen. She was an avid pinochle player and crossword puzzles were a must. She also enjoyed many books as well as Scrabble. For Loretta, Jersey Shore was the place to go in the summer. Bingo was a passion of hers as of late.
Loretta enjoyed helping others in need when she didn't have much of her own. She had spent thirteen years at the Hunt Community making friends and enjoying the many activities that they had to offer. She volunteered at the Hunt Community, welcoming new residents and was always a busy lady. She made many new friends and was loved by all that knew her. Loretta's favorite saying was "hello kiddo" and "come in and take a load off". Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her twin great-grandchildren were the joy that kept her going. Loretta's greatest loves were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Penny Coates, of Manchester, NH: two grandsons, Kevin Coates, of Manchester, NH and Brian Coates and his wife Raelyn Crowell, of Milford, NH: two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Joshua Coates, of Milford, NH.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will also be held Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 AM at the Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford, Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114. Funeral Mass 10 A.M. at St. Dominic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta's loving memory to: Home Health and hospice, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
