Obituary

Maria E. Calhoun (nee Ortiz) passed away October 12, 2021 from complications of diabetes.

Maria was a proud graduate of the Wharton School of Business. While at Wharton she was an active member of the student council and worked as the council's recording secretary. After graduating, she started her own at home business as an independent recruiter for various human resources firms. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and said the Rosary each day. She also found comfort in Saint Padre Pio of Italy.

Daughter of late Juan and Mirta (nee Riveron) Ortiz. Beloved mother of David Calhoun (Susanne Lotowycz). Loving sister of Rosa Ortiz, John Ortiz, Michael (Rose) Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Isabell Ortiz and April (Shern) Kier. God mother of Andrea Ahern; dear aunt of Kerri, Lauren, Valerie, Rick (Wanda), Rikki, Gabriel, Shern Jr., Shane, Nolan, Ryan and Conner.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday Oct. 16, 2021, 9 AM to 9:45 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave. Phila. PA 19114, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment is Our Lady Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to Padre Pio Foundation.
