Obituary

Wife of the late John. Beloved mother of Rosemary Fry (George), Eileen Shellman (Roger), William McCormick (Susan), Mary Beth Schaeffer (Kevin), and the late John McCormick (Anne). Loving grandmother of 12; George Fry, III (Tonya), Lori McCormick, Michele Fry Rorison (Trevor), Sarah Shellman, Kristen McCormick Drueding (Wayne), Courtney McCormick Cifaloglio (Michael), Kathleen Fry Paul (Devin), Michael McCormick (Amy), Matthew Fry (Carrie), Frank McCormick, Kevin Schaeffer, Jr., Jacqueline Schaeffer, and nine great grandchildren. Sister of Dolores Schell, Rosemary Kara, and William Max (Jeanne). Sister-in-law of Kimiko Max, Bernice McCormick and Marlene McCormick.

Martha was devoted to her faith, especially the Blessed Mother. She belonged to the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, OCDS, and the World Apostolate of Fatima. She was a founding member of the St. Irenaeus Parish Womens Club, as well as the church organist for 15 years. Martha graduated from the Philadelphia Institute of Ministerial Music and the Church Ministry Institute. She volunteered as the Archdiocesan Office for Worship, was a board member for the Cathedral May Procession, and was active in the Marian Consortium Rosary Congress. Most recently Martha conducted a Prison Ministry as the House of Correction and was a Eucharistic Minister as Maternity BVM Parish, including communion visits at Chapel Manor Nursing Home. Martha was a tour coordinator for Pilgrimages to Fatima, Lourdes and Spain for 24 years. In addition, she coordinated Fatima Holy Hours for World Peace for 18 years, the latest one from May to October, 2010.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Monday evening 7-9 P.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. (S. of Grant Ave.) A Prayer of the Rosary will be at 8 P.M. at the funeral home. A second Viewing will be held Tuesday morning 9-9:45 A.M. at Maternity B.V.M. Church, 9220 Bustleton Ave., Phila., PA 19115. Funeral Mass 10 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Maternity B.V.M. Church at the above address, or the charity of your choice.
