Maureen passed away on July 8, 2018 after bravely battling cancer with her family by her side. Maureen was born on Aug. 20, 1951. She graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1969, Holy Family College in 1973, and worked at MCP as a staff nurse from 1973-1981, and later worked in staff development. Maureen worked at Hahnemann Hospital and completed the Nurse Practitioner Program from 1981-1985. She was an employee of Abington Hospital from 1985-2016. She started as a Nurse House Mgr. of the Newborn Center, and then took a position as Nurse Mgr. of the Ob/Gyn Clinic, as well as Neonatal Followup. Maureen helped implement many programs for Prenatal Care that included total care packages for economically disadvantaged patients. She also helped with fundraising for large equipment purchases that she felt were essential for excellent patient care. Maureen mentored many nurses and helped mold them to standards of excellence. Many nurses presently working at Abington have written kind notes expressing how Maureen had a great impact and influence on their careers. Maureen was very pleased when these notes were read to her, realizing that she had left a legacy of care for staff and patients.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the Rosenfeld Cancer Center, Abington Hospice, and all those who cared for her.

Maureen is the beloved daughter of Anne Connors (née Metzger) and the late Thomas M. Connors. Loving sister of Anne Connors, Tom (Jenny), John, and Kathy Connors. Dear Aunt of Ryan, Michael, Shane, and Jessica. Great aunt of Griffin and Chase.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing on Friday Eve 6-9 P.M. and Saturday 8:15-9:15 A.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. (So. of Grant Ave.) Phila., PA 19114 followed by her Funeral Mass 10 A.M. at St. Jerome Church. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen's memory to SPIN, 10501 Drummond Rd. Phila., PA 19154.
