Michael Joseph of Holland, PA formerly of Phila., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sat., May 2, 2015. He was 85. Michael is survived by his dear wife of 58 years Nancy; and his devoted, loving daughters Barbara O'Malley (Edward), Kathleen Kramer (Friedrich) and Mary E. Chernoff (Brian). He was a proud and caring grandfather of Caitlin, Elizabeth, Megan and Michael O'Malley and Rebecca and Jessica Chernoff; and step grandfather of Timothy and Brian (Lindsay) O'Malley. He was also a cherished uncle of his many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Elizabeth (Murphy) Cassidy; and all 8 of his siblings, John Cassidy, Elizabeth Courter, Catherine Cassidy, Dorothy Harrison, Joseph Cassidy, Virginia Reichle, Mary Hudome and Rose Ann Mohn. Michael grew up in the Overbrook section of West Phila., was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, and graduated from St. Thomas More H.S. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Teamsters Local 107. Michael was very dedicated to his family and always kept them laughing with his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Saturday 9 A.M. at the BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. (So. of Grant Ave.) followed by his Funeral Service at 11 A.M.
