Michael J. Fitzgerald "Mike" passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 1, 2023 at the age of 73. A proud US Navy Veteran. Beloved husband of 50 years to Catherine (nee Amoroso). Loving father of Michael J. Jr. (Kathleen), Daniel A. (Tricia), and James T. (Mary). Dear Pop of Michael III, John, Daniel, Thomas, Anthony, Madeline, James Jr., and Matthew. Son of the late William and Mary Fitzgerald. Brother of William, Maureen, Kathleen, Rita, Patty, Eileen, Mary, Nora, Anne Marie, and Colleen. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Michael ("Mike") was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School.  After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War.  Upon his discharge, Mike was an employee of Bell Telephone/Verizon for 32 years where he was employed as a lineman and later as a systems engineer.  Mike was an active member of St. Dominic's Parish for over 50 years where he served as an alter server upon his retirement.

Some of Mike's fondest memories were the times he spent at the Torresdale Boys Club.  Mike dedicated thousands of hours volunteering, coaching, and mentoring kids.  In addition, he served on their board of directors as well as a member of the Father's Club.  Where he really shined was as a grandpa to his eight grandkids who he absolutely adored.  He also spent countless hours in his "man cave" yelling at the TV while watching Philly sports and enjoyed summer family vacations down Ocean City, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday Eve at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Friday at St. Dominic Church, 8504 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA at 10:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Torresdale Boys Club, 4500 Linden Ave. Phila., PA 19114 would be appreciated.
