Michael "Pop" passed away peacefully on April 11th 2025.    He was the son of the late John D. and Elizabeth Mahoney. (nee Hurley).  He was the beloved father of Charles Hengstler, Crystal Roskell, Melissa Millard nee Mahoney, Crystine Whitaker and Michael Mahoney. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren:  Chelsea Bird, Charley J. Hengstler, Roland Millard, Cara Millard, Vincent Millard, Cyrus Whitaker, Atticus Whitaker and Finnius Whitaker.  Michael was the beloved brother of Mary I. Calhoun (Walt), Linda Markert (George), John D. Mahoney (the late Theresa, nee Harbison), Jeanette Kania (Scott) and Gregory Mahoney.  Michael was a proud Irishman known for his wonderful sense of humor and love of a good time.  He devoted over 40 years to the United States Merchant Marines and was a veteran of Vietnam.  His generous and fun-loving spirit will forever be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025, from 9:00-10:15 A.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114.  Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. at St. Martha Church, 11301 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.  The funeral mass will conclude services for Tuesday.

Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940, at 11:30 A.M.  A funeral procession will line up at BURNS FUNERAL HOME (at the above-mentioned address) at 10:15 A.M. and leave for the cemetery at precisely 10:30 A.M.  If you are not driving in the funeral procession, please arrive no later than 11:15 A.M. at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Michael would have preferred those donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans , an organization close to his heart.
